about me!

if you’re reading this, then you’ve come to the right spot (or you’re my secret admirer. or stalker. who knows?).

my name is maggie hua, and i am a rising third-year in biochemistry at uc santa barbara. i am chinese-american with vietnamese roots, so i would say that asian food is in my blood.

(here’s a photo of me in my true habitat: concert venues and kpop.)

i grew up in the 626, otherwise known as san gabriel valley, i was raised in an area dominated by asians. during my two years here at santa barbara, i realized that

  1. asian food in an area that was not predominantly asian was not always the most authentic

and

  1. college towns are very pricey when it comes to eating out.

as of this summer, i was working three different jobs and took five different classes throughout my summer (although in different time periods), so making meals and cooking was a rare occasion for me. my love for cooking stemmed from my childhood, although i had lost it upon entering college due to my priorities shifting.

as a result, this blog focuses on

  1. creating easy asian dishes that any college student can make in their apartment

  2. creating fast and time-effective asian dishes for any audience, ranging from those lacking in cooking skills to the workaholic, just like me

  3. refinding my love for cooking

while also enhancing and gaining more of my own cooking skills. come along with me on my foodie journey!
